Being a shadow

As usual , my vication went fast without realizing that i spent 20 days recovering from the final exams . and i'm here again starting my new rotation in surgery.
this year we had a new system where a pair of medical students joins a weekly teem in surgery and acting as shadow of the consultant following his steps , reviewing his patient's charts , doing the post -op assessment and watching the operations . it's seems great for the first time BUT when u starting the first week with the toughest surgeon in the hospital and his history in torturing the students u will not feel that good .
i'm counting the hours till the weekend hoping nothing went bad with this doctor .actually all what am thinking about it now is survival

what does not destroy me makes me strong

tomorrow will be the last day with this team (oncosurgery) and the next week i will start with the pediatric surgery team . so i think i will survive the next 20 hrs .
and about el zaff (we had thick skin now after 2 years in clinical branch ) but the amount of work and the studying material is huge but again it's only 20 hrs then i will be free (actually now am afraid from last minute changes in schedule which may result in joing this team on the next weeks )
ironically some of me wont to have this nightmare again because i'm interested in this subject .

and about august ( i will be having my elective course in one of kuwait's hospitals )
thanx for being here

phantom

there will be no more of that surgeon (as i hope because the schedule could be changed any time ) and about the advices i will be glad to do the task some time in the next week

but for start
1- be professional in talking and behavior (there is a small room for joking)
2- bay attention on the clinical aspects of the disease such as the presentation and the clinical finding and don't wast time on the pathophysiolgy of each disease (the pathophysiology is important but it's not on the top of ur priorities )
3- write only useful information and the new ones in small notes.
4-don't try any studying modality of other student create ur own .
and about the books
to gain good knowledge about how to take a history and how to do an examination read
clinical examination by macleod (in medicine )
and
Browse's Introduction to the Symptoms and Signs of Surgical Disease (in surgery)

select the needed chapters esp. in browse
and don't forget that u should create ur own way in dealing with patients
good luck and i'm sure that u will do fine and more that fine

1- be professional in talking and behavior (there is a small room for joking) >> imm I can do that, despite the fact that i always smile n ppl think that this is not professional >_< >> whatever

2- bay attention on the clinical aspects of the disease such as the presentation and the clinical finding and don't wast time on the pathophysiolgy of each disease (the pathophysiology is important but it's not on the top of ur priorities )>> Yeah Exactly what that visitor Dr told us about not spending so much time on knowing things not related directly to medecine.

3- write only useful information and the new ones in small notes.
>> NOTES NOTES my problemm!..
My skills in taking notes improved a little bit last semester, but still i need to diffrentiate bw what to write n what not 2 write!

4-don't try any studying modality of other student create ur own .
>> I have to do this

and about the books
to gain good knowledge about how to take a history and how to do an examination read
clinical examination by macleod (in medicine )
and
Browse's Introduction to the Symptoms and Signs of Surgical Disease (in surgery)

select the needed chapters esp. in browse>> i will take a look at these books enshalah, but they tought us about these things million times with alot of acting lessons lol ,, but ofcourse, reality is way diffrenet!

and don't forget that u should create ur own way in dealing with patients >> I will.

good luck and i'm sure that u will do fine and more that fine
